The definition of a super sleeper in the world of recruiting, Westfield senior safety Dillon Thieneman committed to Purdue this week. Thieneman (6-0, 190) totaled a whopping 107 tackles last fall on a Westfield squad that finished 12-2 and appeared in the 6A state finals. Thieneman displays ball hawk tendencies every snap and is the quintessential leader of a secondary.

Balling out to Muncie

Zionsville senior quarterback Christian Abney committed to Ball State this week. In his first year starting under center, Abney (6-4, 200) threw for 1,125 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2021 while taking his club into the 5A state championship game. Ball State was Abney’s first DI offer. Butler offered earlier in the spring. Scouts see a lot of next-level upside with this strong-armed gunslinger, who is making huge strides in his craft during the offseason.

Young gun alert

Ben Davis sophomore cornerback Mark Zackary scooped an offer from Indiana University following attending a Hoosiers prospect camp. IU represents his first Big Ten offer and his second power-five conference bid. Vanderbilt offered last month. Zackary earned a starting spot in the secondary as a fab frosh, sheeting 25 tackles, 5 pass deflections and 2 picks.
