Week 5 superlatives: Who excelled around Michigan on the fifth weekend of the 2020 prep football season?
As we get closer and closer to the wrap on the 2020 season, we keep getting historic performances on the gridiron, as teams jockey for position in the postseason. The latest enormous game might’ve been Dexter’s Colin Parachek, who completed 23 passes for a school-record 501 yards and seven scores in a high-scoring duel against Jackson RB Dorion Riley (377 yards rushing, four TDs). Here’s a look at who excelled around the state in Week 5:

Noah Arsulowicz, QB, Grand Rapids West Catholic — Completed 12 of 19 passes for 167 yards and two scores, adding two more rushing TDs in a 34-12 win over Allendale.
Jacob Bendtsen, QB, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep — Completed 10 of 16 passes for 247 yards and four TDs in a 48-8 win over Flint Beecher.
Brenden Brechting, QB, Newaygo — Competed 15 of 25 passes for 279 yards and three scores in a 39-27 loss to Remus Chippewa Hills.
Matt Diaz, QB, Hazel Park — Had 450 yards of total offense and four touchdown passes in a 34-20 win over Madison Heights Madison, as the Vikings got their first win of the 2020 season.
Derek Dykema, QB, Grand Rapids Christian — Completed 9 of 23 passes for 204 yards and three scores in a 22-15 win over East Grand Rapids.
Carson Farley, QB, Grass Lake — Completed 12 of 17 passes for 189 yards and four TDs in a 39-0 win over Napoleon.
Carson Gulker, QB, Zeeland West — Completed 7 of 13 passes for 107 yards and a score, and run for 104 yards and a score on 21 carries in a 15-14 loss to Muskegon.
Brennan Hayes, QB, Hudsonville — Completed 7 of 10 passes for 142 yards and three scores in a 43-35 win over Holland West Ottawa.
Brady Hessbrook, QB, Ithaca — Was 23 for 29 passing with a pair of TD passes in a 51-7 win over Three Rivers, finishing with 355 total yards, and an additional touchdown on the ground.
Leeshaun Mumpfield, QB, Detroit Cass Tech — Completed 10 of 12 passes for 161 yards and three TDs in a 41-9 win over Detroit King in the PSL championship game.
Cam Orr, QB, New Lothrop — Completed 8 of 9 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-6 win over Durand.
Colin Parachek, QB, Dexter — Completed 23 of 34 passes for a school-record 501 yards and seven TDs in a 70-38 win over Jackson.
Jacob Recker, QB, Clare — Completed 8 of 14 passes for 191 yards and two scores and added two rushing touchdowns in a 49-0 win over Harrison.
Davin Reif, QB, Frankenmuth — Completed 10 of 14 passes for 182 yards and two TDs, and added 85 yards and two TD runs on the ground in a 41-6 win over Birch Run.
Larry Robinson, QB, Saline — Threw three touchdowns and ran for two more in the first half alone, as the Hornets beat Ann Arbor Skyline 63-0 to win their seventh straight SEC Red title.
Brady Rose, QB, Muskegon Mona Shores — Completed 3 of 4 passes for 82 yards and two scores, and ran the ball four times for 84 yards and two scores in limited time in a 77-32 win over Grand Rapids Union.
Aidan Rubio, QB, Goodrich — Completed 8 of 13 passes for 163 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-0 win over Owosso.
Ty Rynbrandt, QB, Grand Rapids South Christian — Completed 20 of 28 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-7 win over Thornapple-Kellogg.
Joey Silveri, QB, Grand Rapids Catholic Central — Completed 12 of 23 passes for 207 yards and three scores, adding 59 yards on nine rushes in a 28-3 win over Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern.
Bobby Skinner, QB, Montrose — Completed 15 of 20 passes for 218 yards and five touchdowns in a 50-6 win over Otisville LakeVille.
Brendan Sullivan, QB, Davison — Completed 6 of 7 passes for 113 yards and no interceptions in a 61-6 win over Saginaw Arthur Hill.
Tommy Szczepanski, QB, Essexville Garber — Completed 11 of 14 passes for 364 yards and four TDs in a 56-32 win over Saginaw Swan Valley.
Justyz Tuggle, Detroit Central — Completed 8 of 13 passes for 319 yards and two scores, and had a 76-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to go with 48-34 loss to Detroit Southeastern.
Cam Burford, RB, Stoney Creek — Ran for 193 yards and two scores on 26 carries in a 36-7 win over Southfield A&T.
Braeden Carskadon, QB, Hart — Carried 41 times for 326 yards and five touchdowns, adding 117 yards and a score on 5-for-14 passing, as well as four 2-point conversions in a 46-36 win over Shelby.
Doak Dean, QB, Lowell — Carried 33 times for 174 yards and three TDs, adding 48 yards through the air on 9-for-12 passing in a 35-22 loss to Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern.
Jimmy Downs, slot, Schoolcraft — Carried the ball six times for 75 yards and 3 TDs, adding four catches for 105 yards, and 10 tackles on defense.
Kaden Dubois, RB, Jackson Vandercook Lake — Ran for 310 yards and five touchdowns and caught passes for 111 yards in a 54-30 win over New Buffalo.
Donavan Franklin, RB, Flint Powers — Rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in a 56-14 loss to Grand Blanc.
Trae Garcia, RB, St. Louis — Carried the ball 27 times for 217 yards and three scores in a 30-17 win over Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary.
Tagg Gott, RB, Schoolcraft — Had 19 carries for 137 yards and three TDs, adding eight tackles and a fumble recovery on defense.
Trent Hocter, RB, Hanover-Horton — Scored four TDs and ran for 123 yards on 10 carries, adding a 31-yard touchdown reception in a 62-7 win over East Jackson.
Drew Johnson, RB, Midland — Carried 21 times for 168 yards and three scores in a 44-6 win over Flint Carman-Ainsworth.
Will Johnson, RB/DB, Grosse Pointe South — Ran for 66 yards and three scores on 11 carrels in a 42-35 loss to Sterling Heights Stevenson.
Brendan Keelan, QB, Grant — Ran for 145 yards and three scores on 24 carries and completed 9 of 18 passes for 142 yards and two scores in a 41-13 win over Central Montcalm.
Jordan Kwiatkowski, RB/LB, Sterling Heights Stevenson — Had 18 carries for 125 yards and two TDs, and three catches for 111 yards and two scores in the Titans’ 42-35 win over Grosse Pointe South to seal up a share of the MAC Red title.
Marcel Love/Cam Terry, RBs, Grandville — Combined for 264 yards and two scores in a 42-7 win over Caledonia.
Deshawn Matthews, RB, Detroit Southeastern — Ran for 251 yards and two crew in a 48-34 win over Detroit Central.
Ben McDonald, RB, Coopersville — Carried 24 times for 119 yards and three scores in a 28-21 loss to Fruitport.
Ayden Oliver, RB, South Lyon East — Ran 36 times for 196 yards and two scores in East’s 23-6 win over Waterford Kettering.
Brennan Pannucci, RB, North Muskegon — Had 17 carries for 152 yards and three TDs in a 42-0 win over Mason County Central.
Jake Plamondon, RB, Ludington — Carried 18 times for 158 yards and two scores in a 21-20 loss to Manistee, adding 11 tackles on defense.
Trent Reed, QB, Beaverton — Ran for 132 yards and a TD on 23 carries, adding 119 yards and a score on 5-for-8 passing in a 35-29 win over Gladwin in 2 OTs.
Dorion Riley, RB, Jackson — Carried 38 times for 377 yards and four touchdowns in a 70-38 loss to Dexter.
Colin Schotts, RB, North Muskegon — Carried 21 times for 219 yards and a touchdown in a 42-0 win over Mason County Central.
DJ Stepney, RB, Macomb Dakota — Carried 30 times for 194 yards and three TDs, finishing with 227 all-purpose yards in a 34-28 win over Romeo, adding an INT and a fumble recovery on defense.
Cam Valliere, RB, Breckenridge — Carried 14 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns, adding a pair of 2-point conversions in a 46-0 win over Burton Bendle.
Corey Vanderputte, RB, Muskegon Oakridge — Carried 15 times for 204 yards and two scores in a 34-13 win over Ravenna.
DJ Voltz, RB, Carrollton — Had 71 yards on 14 carries, second-half touchdown runs of 2, 44 and 6 yards, adding a pair of 2-point conversions and three receptions for 39 yards.
Anthony Ward, RB, Oscoda — Ran for 139 yards and three TDs, as the unscored-upon Owls went to 5-0 with a 62-0 win over Lincoln Alcona.
Bryan Weathersby Jr.., RB, Sterling Heights Parkway Christian — Ran for 275 yards and three scores on 19 carries in a 47-28 win over Marine City Cardinal Mooney.
Caden Woodall, RB, Livonia Stevenson — Ran for 260 yards and two scores and added a passing touchdown in a 24-20 loss to Livonia Churchill.
Blake Bosma, WR, Holland West Ottawa — Had 12 catches for 179 yards and two TDs.
Braedon Fuson, WR, Dexter — Caught five passes for two scores and a school-record 215 yards in a 70-38 win over Jackson.
Logan Hugo, WR, Essexville Garber — Caught five passes for 204 yards and two scores in a 56-32 win over Saginaw Swan Valley.
Braedon Leathed, WR, Grass Lake — Caught four passes for 103 yards and two TDs in a 39-0 win over Napoleon.
Kenyatta McKeever, WR, Detroit Central — Had five catches for 139 yards and three scores in a 48-34 loss to Detroit Southeastern.
Zach Poff, WR, Ithaca — Scored three touchdowns in a 51-7 win over Three Rivers, one through the air, and two on the ground.
Lowyind Pullen, WR, Homer — Caught three passes for 92 yards and two scores in a 26-19 loss to Reading.
Leto Sesma, WR, Mt. Morris — Had nine catches for 221 yards and two TDs in a 14-13 win over Ovid-Elsie, adding eight tackles on defense.
Colin Weber, WR, Hopkins — Caught TD passes of 7 and 26 yards, adding an 11-yard TD run in a 48-20 win over Wyoming Godwin Heights.
Patrick White, WR, Hazel Park — Caught three touchdowns among his seven catches for 217 yards in a 34-20 win over Madison Heights Madison.
Jace Williams, WR, Grand Rapids Catholic Central — Caught five passes for 69 yards and three scores in a 28-3 win over Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern.
Sam Chochran, Zeeland East — Scored three touchdowns in three different phases, returning a kickoff 75 yards for a score and an interception 30 yards to pay dirt, along with a 50 yard run. He also had eight tackles in a 75-17 win over Holland.
Tyrell Henry, WR/DB, Roseville — Scored in three different phases, with a receiving TD, an interception return for a touchdown and an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 60-22 win over St. Clair.
Sheldon Huff, LB/RB, Johannesburg-Lewiston — Recorded 18 tackles to go with 135 rushing yards and two scores in a 52-0 win over East Jordan.
Myles Walton, DB, Muskegon — Returned a punt for a school-record 95 yards for a score with 1:29 left in Friday’s game, giving Muskegon a 15-14 come-from-behind win over Zeeland West.
Drake Willenborg, WR/DE, South Lyon East — Recorded two sacks, including a strip-sack for a touchdown, in East’s 23-6 win over Waterford Kettering.
