West Bloomfield forfeits game with Groves; used ineligible player
West Bloomfield – Coach Ron Bellamy of West Bloomfield notified the Michigan High School Athletic Association that his program used an ineligible player in last week’s 31-28 overtime victory over Birmingham Groves and that West Bloomfield will forfeit said game.
The player in question is a lifetime resident of West Bloomfield. His played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s before transferring to West Bloomfield. According the MHSAA rules the student must sit out a semester of athletics before becoming eligible.
Bellamy said, until Monday, that he was unaware that the student was ineligible.
