West Bloomfield’s highly recruited RB Donovan Edwards chooses Michigan

Donovan Edwards is going to be a Michigan Wolverine.
The West Bloomfield senior running back made the announcement live on ESPN at a signing day ceremony on Wednesday, ending the pursuit of one of the top players in the nation’s Class of 2021.
At the end of October, Edwards narrowed his field down to a top seven of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Oklahoma.
Through the district finals, Edwards had 81 carries for 621 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 15 catches for 149 yards and three more scores. He was also 2-for-2 passing for 27 yards and returned five kicks for 87 yards for the Lakers, who were 8-1 and in the Division 1 district finals at the time the postseason was paused.
Although he topped our STATE CHAMPS! 150 this summer, according to 247Sports, Edwards was the No. 2 player in the state’s class of 2021, and the No. 4 running back in the nation.
Edwards is one of the 10 final contestants for the SC! Mr. Football award, as well.
